In Motion Hosting Sucks - A Story

First and foremost, I want to say that most InMotion employees I talk to were very nice and professional, I was happy to have found InMotion, especially after reading good reviews online but the whole thing turned out poorly. After a week on my shared hosting, I kept experiencing No Server Found and others errors related to the server or MySQL server being too slow. On the ninth day, the website became completely irresponsible and went to their customer service to complain. The server was under maintenance for whatever issue and customer service just told me to be patient. Fair enough. I also asked whether or not the server had been slow in the past few days because I had encountered errors trying to get on my website and he said no, it's all good. Few days later, still errors with the website, I go to their customer service one more time and tell me and they simply say that I can request a server change when I start asking about their money back policy. I sent the email and patiently waited and 3 days later, all I had received was an email to confirm that my request had been passed on to whoever was in charge and I email them again complaining about speeds which I get no answer to. Two more days after I wake up to find that access to my website has been completely LOCKED because of queries taking too long. Standard procedure in the case is obviously to let the owner of the website know so he can go and fix the queries himself but instead they block the website and ask to call them. As I'm overseas, I'm not about to spend 15 minutes in a waiting line to spend 10 minutes talking about queries I can fix myself so my phone company can charge $20 for it. So I go, once again, to customer service: charlie: My website was blocked charlie: because of long sql queries charlie: which you did after five days of me complaining about slow speeds to you charlie: and me not getting a response charlie: and on top of taking 5 days to let me know I have bad queries charlie: you BLOCK ACCESS to mysql Jason P.: You will need to reply to the email our system administrators have sent you or call and speak to them. charlie: I'm overseas charlie: I can't call them charlie: and I can't wait for another 2 days to get my website unblocked Jason P.: Reply to the email and they will respond as soon as possible. charlie: this is a joke charlie: please get somebody to unlock the account so I can fix the queries myself Jason P.: I am sorry for the inconvenience You will have to reply to the email. After this, I asked Jason to point to money return which I read and found very interesting: Setup fees are non-refundable. For example, if you purchase a 1 month Pro package, the purchase price is $13.99 (hosting) + $40 (setup), equivalent to $53.99. In the event of canceling within the eligible money back guarantee time, you will only be eligible for a refund of the web hosting fee ($13.99) Apparently, setting up a shared hosting account costs In Motion hosting $40, it's weird cause it seems most other hosting would probably be able to have that done automatically. But hey, why not ? So here it is, I'm currently patiently waiting to get access to my website back which doesn't feel right after spending two weeks asking what was wrong. I'm fixing my queries (it's a missing index by the way) and taking my business elsewhere.
